Sapporo Snow Festival 2027 — Opening Day
The 77th Sapporo Snow Festival runs 4–11 February 2027 across the Odori, Susukino and Tsudome sites. The closing day is a public holiday (National Foundation Day), so book accommodation early. The detailed programme is published from mid-December; Tsudome keeps its own hours.

2026 Income Tax Return (Kakutei Shinkoku) — Filing Period Opens
The filing period for 2026 income (Reiwa 8) runs 16 February – 15 March 2027. You usually need to file if you were self-employed or freelance, had more than one employer or side income over ¥200,000, left a job mid-year without a year-end adjustment, or want to claim medical, furusato nozei or first-year housing-loan deductions. Residents who send money to dependants abroad need the remittance records. e-Tax with a My Number card is the fastest route.
Tokyo Marathon 2027 — Race Day
Officially scheduled for Sunday 7 March 2027, starting at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and finishing in front of Tokyo Station, with a field of 40,000. General entry closed in August 2026; this is a spectating and road-closure reminder. The Expo and packet pick-up run 4–6 March (tentative).

2026 Income Tax Return (Kakutei Shinkoku) — Filing and Payment Deadline
Income tax returns and payments for 2026 are due by Monday 15 March 2027 (the standard 15 March deadline falls on a weekday this year, so there is no extension). Late filing adds penalties and interest; refunds can be claimed for up to five years. Consumption-tax returns for sole proprietors are due 31 March.
AnimeJapan 2027 — Public Day 1
Public days are 27–28 March 2027, 09:00–17:00 (last entry 16:30) at Intex Osaka — the event's first edition outside Tokyo, so do not head to Tokyo Big Sight. Business days are 26–27 March. Check the official site for ticket sales and stage schedules.
